Al Gore, Meet Baghdad Bob

It appears that Baghdad Bob has found new employment. Remember Baghdad Bob, the Iraqi information minister whose job it was to glorify the exploits of the Iraqi army at the expense of the US forces. It appears that he is now being employed by the UN and the global warming crowd to spin new tales about mankind’s imminent demise if we don’t ante up sacrifices to the climate god. He must have surely contributed to the poster icon of the Copenhagen summit. The earth’s globe is reduced to a blackened landmass surrounded by red, fiery seas. That means that I misunderstood. I thought we were talking about a few degrees per century, not a thousand degrees overnight. But hey, what’s a little hyperbole between activist nutcases?

Then, there are the schoolchildren, all in a row with the banner message that says “people want a fair ambitious binding deal”. Probably the same children Bob used to depict typical Al Qaida operatives in the face of ravenous American troops. How will we know it is a fair deal? When the developed nations have been reduced to the same beggar status as the climate change recipients? Will a couple of trillion dollars siphoned into the pockets of the world’s Mugabes, suffice as “ambitious”? How will we bind the nations, like China, who are playing the talk game, with no intention of doing the walk? Will we attack them? And how do we get the Mugabes to spend their climate receipts in beneficial ways, when we can’t even control the billions in aid benefits they already receive?

In this maelstrom of (the end is near) hyperbole, let me be the first to admit that I’m overreacting. There really is no need for me to be cynical because so many consummate cynics are doing a superb job of it at the Dopenhagen summit. Al Gore is vying for another nobel prize by dowsing Climategate. Evidently, exchanged instructions to suppress facts, “trick” results, destroy evidence and persecute dissenters, were “out of context”. Certainly, and the correct context is the damage it will do to the legitimacy of his nobel reputation, and income. In spite of all the spin, and obvious suppression of truth, one thing is clear. No one representing any nation of true importance in the global salvation formula, looks like they are about to be suckered into giving the farm to the supplicant nations, on this pretense. Environment minister Prentice is a case in point. His promise is to do everything necessary to save mankind…as long as the US does it first. Will Obama’s bs amount to anything substantial? Not unless he wants an impact with a looming debt wall.
